Claims for freight loss or damage must be filed with the carrier as quickly as possible and with complete supporting documentation. Lantrax Logistics will assist in the procedure, acting as an intermediary between the carrier and the claimant.

RECEIVING GOODS
In order for any carrier to accept a damage claim, the vey first responsibility is for the consignee to make a note of any damage on the delivery Bill of lading or PRO at the time that the item is received. Attempting to make a claim for damage or loss after the truck has left the premises is almost futile.
Photographs should be taken of the damaged goods immediately, on the truck when possible.
Note any marks (scrapes, bruises, tears, etc) that appear on the outside of the packaging that may indicate internal damage then be sure to completely open the shipment and inspect the contents immediately while the delivery operator is in attendance.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Signed Bill of Lading or PRO with damage noted in the body
- Paid Invoice
- Original invoice for the replacement or repair cost of the damaged product
- Other supporting documents such as photographs, witness statements, etc.
Most trucking companies self insure for smaller claims, saving their insurance for catastrophic incidents. In either case, like any insurance, the organization would rather not pay so having complete documentation is the key to success so training receiving staff to make a note of any abnormalities on the receiving document is imperative.
